WW - Patek Philippe Calatrava, Genève, ref 3438, circa 1960, automatic, 31mm x 39mm to lug tips, 18mm lug width, original 18K yellow gold snap back case with long rounded lugs, original black lizard strap and 18K buckle both signed Patek Philippe, original silvered dial with applied gold baton indices and subsidiary seconds at 6, 30J cal 27-460 with 18K yellow gold rotor engraved with the famous Calatrava cross, fausses-côtes pattern nickel damascene, Genève seals, case s#310749, movement s#1110091, triple signed. A fabulously made watch from a bygone era of watchmaking. Gross weight of assembled watch without strap 20.6 dwt (32.2 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, light micro-fine scratches, very light oxide, 18K gold rotor shows hardly any wear with only very light surface scratches; excellent dial with light surface spotting as well as a fine scratch near 5, applied gold indices have started to tarnish with some appearing blue; nearly mint gold hands; polished case shows little wear, strong lugs and crisp hallmarks, small dings to the backs of the lugs; replacement modern Calatrava cross crown shows hardly any wear; good plastic crystal.
